HAVANA.- (Prensa Latina) The teams of Cuba (Domadores) and Venezuela (Caciques) said they are both ready to rumble for the first day of action at the Havana Sports City for the World Series of Boxing (WSB) in its 7th edition.

Both boxing teams ratified their faith in victory, during the weighing official presentation Thursday at the swimming pool of the Palco Hotel in Havana.

For the Friday cartel, Cuba announced its fighters: Johanys Argilagos (49 kilograms) and Arlen López (75 kg), both World Champions, together world championship runner up Erislandy Savón (91kg), Pan American Champ Andy Cruz (64 kg) and rookie Javier Ibáñez (56).

Venezuela will rely on Jefferson Blanco (49), Yony Blanco (56), Yoelvis Hernández (64), Keiber González (75) and Ronald González (91), all of them National Champions of Venezuela.

The supervisor of the International Boxing Association (AIBA), Pat Fiacco, stressed two of the ruling amendments to be taken by the WSB this year.

One of them is the reduction of six to four referees for each session, so three will be those who will vote, and their scores are all valid, in contrast to the previous format of five, of which two are dismissed.

In addition, he recalled that this season every franchise can join two professional boxers.

The meet between Cubans and Venezuelans will be one of the two with which WSB will start Friday, when Argentina and Colombia meet in Buenos Aires.
