HAVANA.- (ACN) Hammer thrower Yipsi Moreno now owns Cuba´s 78th Olympic title after the confirmation of the doping of Belarusian Aksana Miankova in Beijing 2008.

The website of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) published that Miankova is one of the seven ratified doped athletes in Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008, who must now return their Olympic medals, pins and diplomas.

"The Belarusian Olympic Committee will ensure the full implementation of this decision," notes IOC's communication.

Miankova won the scepter there with 76.34 meters, setting thus an Olympic record by that time, and was escorted by Moreno (75.20).

The silver medal will then pass to the hands of Chinese Zhang Wenxiu (74.32), while Belarusian Daryia Pchelnik (73.65) will be the bronze medalist.

The tests showed that Miankova used Turinabol and Oxandrolone, two anabolic steroids, and her name was included in the list of those committing fraud last July, but the process needed to be completed with the appeal and analysis of sample B.

Moreno, three times world champion (2001, 2003 and 2005) and Cuba´s national record holder (76.62) since 2008, also received her universal gold medal in 2005 as a prize for fair play after the disqualification of Russian Olga Kuzenkova in March 2013.
