Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.- (acn) Cuban Johanys Argilagos (49 kg) secured a bronze medal in the boxing tournament of the Olympic Games which hosts this Brazilian city until August 21.

Argilagos, last year world champion, won 3-0 (30-27, 30-27 and 30-26) over Peter Mungai Warui  from Kenya. 

With his victory, second in the event, the Cuban boxer advanced to semifinals, stage in which he will face Colombian Yuberjen Martinez.

The native athlete from the province of Camaguey previously beat 2-1 British Galal Yafai. 

Also today, Erislandy Savon (91 kilos) will face Argentine Yamil Alberto Peralta for a ticket to semifinals; while Julio Cesar La Cruz (81), three times world monarch, will fight for his first win against Turkish Mehmet Nadir Unal. 

So far, boxing, known as the flagship of Cuba in multiple games, remains unbeaten at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, as a sign it aspires to win several medals in the Brazilian city. 

The other boxer from the Caribbean nation who also won in his debut was Lazaro Alvarez (60), owner of three world titles, who defeated 3-0 (30-27, 30-27 and 29-28) Italian Carmine Tommasone, one of the professional athletes who participates in the Olympic Games .
