Accustomed -as it is- to hobnobbing with the principal potencies of the Cuban sport, Camagüey always hopes tobe included in this select quartet that heads practically all the categories of the muscle in the island nation.

But to be among Havana, Santiago de Cuba and Villa Clara involves much more than desires; especially when territories like Granma, Cienfuegos or Pinar del Rio advance every year in disciplines that once were turning out to be forbidden to them.

This way could have been proved in the last editions of the National School Games, this first Olympiad of our future champions, that in the recent decade saw how differences were shorten in many of the events or verified that even the final classification order could be inverted.

That's why for Camagüey the current one will have a significant importance. From this Monday our representatives will have to mend the discreet performances of last April (during the regional ones of several sports) and make use of the finals of disciplines like those of combat, the rhythmic gymnastic or the fencing.

To obtain it, the students are provided with the participation of 337 athletes, who will see action in 29 sports; while, until July 23rd, 86 juvenile ones will try their luck in ten specialties, although with less possibilities.

This year Camagüey will be a head office of the school contests of boxing and wrestling in its three styles, which will take place in the Palace of the Sports Rafael Fortún and Eide Cerro Pelado, respectively.

Before starting the matching lists or having set off at least towards the competition stages, for the participants it remains clear that these will be a particularly tough Games, in which a single result can determine positions at the time of the general arranging.
