At her speech in an extraordinary meeting of the organization, she said her government is very concerned about the US government interference in Venezuela´s internal matters.

Last March 9th, US president Barack Obama decreed the state of emergency and said Venezuela was an "unusual and extraordinary" threat to US national security and foreign policy.

The Minister said to representatives of 34 OAS country members, this type of aggressions usually precede military interventions and financial, commercial and economic blockades, like the one imposed to Cuba for more than fifty years.

She explained that the measures against government officials, which are affecting the whole country, have their origin in the violent actions promoted by the opposition last year.

Most of these citizens have been sanctioned because they defended democracy and stability, and contributes to maintain peace in view of the terrorist actions carried out by right-wing forces in Venezuela, she said.

He added that the US measure would grant impunity to those responsible for the violent actions that claimed the lives of dozens and injured hundreds.

She recalled that Venezuela has never been a danger to anyone in the continent, on the contrary, its army fought to liberate several peoples in the region.

Finally, she insisted on the willingness to dialog with President Obama, in equal and respectful terms, adding Venezuela doesn´t recognized the unilateral coercive measures imposed by Washington.
