Cuba reveals US-backed plot in Summit of the Americas

Grael, secretary general of the Panamanian Worker´s National Federation, said the event´s closing ceremony will start at 6 pm with the attendance of Cuba´s Raul Castro, Venezuelan Nicolas Maduro, Bolivian Evo Morales and Ecuadorian Rafael Correa, among other Heads of State and Government.

The event will take place at the Paraninfo of the University of Panama.

The participants, including Peace Nobel Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, highlighted the symbolic importance of this meeting, 10 years after a similar alternative event was held in the framework of the Summit of the Americas, moment when the US project of a Free Trade Area for the continent was buried.

This Summit will issue a statement, after several days of intense work, rejecting Barack Obama´s executive order against Venezuela, demanding the end of the US economic, financial and commercial blockade of Cuba, demanding the independence of Puerto Rico, and the free access to the sea by Bolivia, said Grael.

Under the slogan ¨Latin America, a homeland for all, solidarity and with social justice¨ organizations of unionists, farmers, students, human rights, feminist, ecology activists, among others, gathered to speak on the big and serious problems our peoples have.
