Also Mireya Luis expressed herself, who said that she comes to Panama in her double condition of woman and athlete: "I had the possibility of growing like athlete for the opportunity that I received thanks to the Cuban Revolution, only bearing in mind the spirit and the desire of growing, to represent and to reach a goal in the sport”.

“I am proud of having come to the top of my major thanks to the personal sacrifice and the support of the people”, she pointed out.

Mireya comes to Panama with the clear message that “we are going to keep on constructing our country, defending the women and looking for medals that give satisfactions to the people of the island, and to encourage the new generations so that they defend in the future the colors of the flag as we did it”.

Before these two women, Alberto Juantorena, Olympian champion of Montreal 1976 in 400 and 800 flat meters, he joked on the fact that among the athletes who are in the Cuban delegation to the events of Panama: Moreno, Luis, Javier Sotomayor and himself, have over 15 medals in sports games, that are also achievements of Cuba to show in the VIIth Summit of the Americas.
