Heroes of the Republic of Cuba, Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino and Rene Gonzalez, and Cardoso, attend today as guests of the State Duma (Lower House) the military parade at the Red Square for the 71st anniversary of the victory over Nazism.

It is a real privilege to be present in such an important celebration. It pays tribute to those who make the Victory Day come true, said the fighter against terrorism who did not give in after being sentenced to two life terms plus 15 years.

The Cuban Five and Cardoso arrived in Moscow yesterday night invited by the Russian State Duma, and will comply with a program in the coming four days that includes a meeting tomorrow at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with Minister, Sergei Lavrov.

The delegation will also hold meetings in the Russian capital with representatives of the State Duma, the Federation Council (Senate), the movement of solidarity with Cuba and officials of the island's state mission here.

As an expression of respect and veneration of the 27 million Soviets who died in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945), will also visit the Unknown Soldier Monument at the Alexander Garden, at the foot of the Kremlin walls, in Moscow, where a wreath will be laid.

Rene Gonzalez and Fernando Gonzalez were released by Washington after completing their sentences, while Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero y Ramon Labañino arrived in Cuba in December 2014, following the announcement of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Havana and Washington.

In February 2015, President Raul Castro imposed a medal of Heroes of the Republic of Cuba to the Cuban Five, a recognition previously conferred to Cardoso. The latter was injured during an internationalist mission in Ethiopia and resisted 10 years of solitary confinement in Somalia.
