Jesus Escamilla, executive of the Mexican Movement of Solidarity with Cuba (MMSC), told Prensa Latina that the event will establish and strengthen its activities supporting the Caribbean island during this year.

One of the main issues will be the continued struggle for the release of three Cuban anti-terrorist fighters - Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, and Antonio Guerrero - who have been unjustly imprisoned in the United States for more than 15 years, he said.

They, along with Rene Gonzalez and Fernando Gonzalez, who returned to their homeland after completing harsh sentences, were arrested in Miami while monitoring the activities by groups based there that were dedicated to terrorist actions against Cuba.

Escamilla stated that another of the main issues to discuss at the event will be the actions against the criminal blockade the United States has maintained against the island, firmly condemned by world public opinion.

Also on the list is coordinated efforts to publicize the achievements of the Cuban Revolution, and the greatest contributions that in a gesture of solidarity, that nation has given to other peoples worldwide.

The MMSC leader stated that support for the Bolivarian government of Venezuela and its President Nicolas Maduro will also be evident at the meeting.

The event will be attended by a delegation and special guests from Cuba, who will speak about the situation in that country.

During the last day of the event, the book "Memorias del dueño del Yate Granma" (Memoirs of Granma Yacht´s Owner), by Antonio del Conde (El Cuate), will be launched. It recalls the expedition from Mexico to Cuba led in 1956 by Fidel Castro and his companions, to reignite the revolutionary struggle.
