HANOI.- Material aid worth $150,000 USD has been delivered today by the Thai Binh Trade and Investment Corporation to the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam to help mitigate the damage caused by Hurricane Irma.

This is not a simple financial contribution; this is a gesture that honors the Vietnamese people's spirity of solidarity, especially towards a people that we love like a brother, Coporation President Tran Thant Tu said after delivering a symbolic check to Ambassador Herminio Lopez Diaz.

According to the amount, the cargo consists basically of construction materials, food and other basic products.

We hope this contribution will even help modestly to solve the enormous difficulties the hurricane left behind during its passing through Cuba, said Thant Tu, who promised to call on other Vietnamese companies to help the Caribbean nation in such a dramatic moment.

The ambassador recalled that the Thai Binh Trade and Investment Corporation and its associated companies are among the oldest Vietnamese partners in Cuba, and described as helpful this aid that transcends its mere material value.

He noted that the Cuban people are in the midst of the reconstruction phase and will overcome this difficult moment with their proverbial abnegation and courage, as well as the support of their friends around the world, such as the Vietnamese people.

Communist Party Secretary-General Nguyen Phu Trong, President Tran Dai Quang, and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent messages of solidarity to President Raul Castro.
