HAVANA.- (ACN) Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc today reaffirmed Vietnam's support for Cuba in the fight against the commercial, economic and financial blockade imposed on the island by the United States.

According to Prensa Latina news agency, the Vietnamese leader made that statement after greeting in Hanoi the president of the Cuban National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP), Esteban Lazo Hernández.

Referring to the visit, Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that he is happy and that it helps strengthen ties between the two nations.

He also reiterated condolences on behalf of his people for the physical disappearance of Fidel Castro, of whom he recalled the phrase: "... For Vietnam we are willing to give up our own blood ..." as proof of his solidarity and friendship.

For his part, the Cuban parliamentary leader explained that the purpose of this visit is to take advantage of experiences in everything that is useful in the process of updating the Cuban socio-economic model.

He also stressed that Cuba attaches great importance to these links, while the idea is to bring economic-commercial relations to the level of the political ones, which are excellent.

That meeting took place after a morning session in which Lazo held talks with his counterpart Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, followed by a speech at the National Assembly of Vietnam.

Before the deputies, including President Tran Dai Quang and Prime Minister Xuan Phuc, the head of the ANPP spoke about aspects of the bilateral relations and objectives of his presence in this country, that will last until next Sunday.

We have come to learn to take advantage of everything that fits our characteristics and can serve us in perfecting the system of People's Power, he said.
