HAVANA.- (ACN) The 9th International Conference on Accounting, Audit and Finances began on Monday in Havana as the ideal space to contribute to the updating of the Cuban economic model underway since 2011.

During the inauguration at the Convention Center with the participation of professionals from 14 countries, the President of the National Association of Economists and Accountants, (ANEC) Oscar Luis Hung Penton said that the event is being held after the recent approval by the Cuban Communist Party of the documents that guides the updating the economic process.

He pointed out that the event will allow contributions related with the need of strengthening accounting and consolidate efficient and diverse financial systems to assure the sustainability of the plans up to the year 2030.

According to Hung Penton, these three days will turn Havana into the capital of economic sciences gathering public officials, state business executives, cooperative and private workers and academics from three continents.

The President of ANEC also highlighted the coincidence of the event with the 90th anniversary of the subject of accounting in Cuba and expressed the opportunity for students and workers to improve professional training in the field.

The Minister of Finances and Prices, Lina Pedraza referred to the tasks developed by ANEC as part of the updating of the economic process like the modernization of the tax system and transformations in government accounting.

She mentioned that there are studies underway to design the indicators of public finances while work for a better management of earnings is underway destined at local budgets.

The participants at the event will also discuss financial accounting and costs, audits, control, banking, finances and public budgets with the presence of Onelio Sosa from the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and directives from different entities.
