HAVANA.- (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro arrived today in Cuba on the occasion of the celebration of the twelfth anniversary of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA), reported the national television.

Arriving in Cuba 22 years after the meeting between Fidel and Chavez, to celebrate the 12 years of the ALBA and ratify the way of union and liberation, asserted the Venezuelan president in his Twitter account.

Maduro arrived in Havana at dawn Wednesday, and was received at the José Martí International Airport by Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, extended the television report.

ALBA is a Latin American integration project that, on the initiative of Hugo Chávez and Fidel Castro, was born as an alternative to the Free Trade Area for the Americas, promoted by the United States.

The Latin American alliance was officially founded on December 14, 2004.
