HAVANA.- (ACN) Canada´s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is scheduled to arrive Tuesday afternoon in Cuba on an official visit.

During his stay here, Trudeau will hold official talks with President Raul Castro. He will previously lay a wreath at the monument of National Hero Jose Marti at Havana´s Revolution Square.

The Canadian premier´s official agenda also includes a key-note lecture at the University of Havana on Wednesday and a press conference in the old section of the city, according to Cuban Press Information Center.

Canada has stood as the main source of tourists to Cuba over the past years and as the island´s fourth major commercial partner in the world since 2015. Trade exchange has been calculated at more than 700 million dollars, according to statistics stemming from the latest Havana´s International Trade Fair, held earlier this month.

Canada also has important investment projects on the island, particularly in the areas of energy and mining and in the industries of paper and foods and drinks.
