HAVANA, (ACN) Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro received visiting Portuguese President  Maracelo Rebelo de Sousa on Wednesday evening, in what was described as a very friendly meeting.

According to Granma newspaper, Fidel and the Portuguese leader addressed several issues of international interest and the relations of friendship between Cuba and Portugal.

Rebelo de Sousa referred to the result of the vote Wednesday at the UN General Assembly on the Cuban  resolution demanding the lifting of the over-50-year US economic, commercial and financial blockade of Cuba; he stressed his country┬┤s position against such US unilateral and extraterritorial measure, which has been condemned by the international community.

Meanwhile, Fidel thanked the stance of Portugal and stressed the firmness of the Cuban people who will not forget the countless human and economic damage inflicted by the US blockade.

Fidel also reiterated the brutal and inhumane nature of the US policy, which the Cuban people will never accept.
