HAVANA.- (ACN Cuban President raul Castro paid tribute to late Colombian writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez after the official ceremony of the signing of the Final Agreement for the Peace in Colombia.

¨This is a modest homage we wanted to pay Gabo, because during his trips to Cuba, he used to talk a lot with Fidel and me about peace in Colombia¨ Raul told the journalists and added the writer would go over and over on the need to have such a moment as the one that took place this Monday.

The Cuban President, along the delegation that accompanied him to Colombia, visited the La Merced
Cloister, where he observed a minute of silence before laying a floral wreath to the bronze bust that homages the writer of One Hundred Years of Solitude.

¨While I was witnessing the ceremony I was thinking of him, ¨ Raul said, ¨therefore, before 
returning to Cuba, we wanted to pay this homage to him and to all that fell, on each side¨ Long live peace, he added-

Raul forwarded the Colombian people his respects and congratulations and wished them success on
the future.
