HAVANA, CUBA.- Representatives of 10 South African companies met with Cuban entrepreneurs in Havana to discuss potential business between the two countries.

Celia Labora, head of International Relations of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the bonds of friendship between the two peoples, and the possibilities arising from working together.

At the Havana´s Melia Cohiba Hotel, she said this meeting takes place amidst the transformations the Cuban economic system is underway, with new opportunities for the development of business profitable for both sides.

Officials from the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry attending the meeting noted this visit will pave the way to an increase in market relations with Cuba.

They acknowledged that despite the strong political links, trade is limited; therefore this meeting is ideal for both sides to identify business opportunities. They also received an ample explanation on how to do business in Cuba and the new law on direct foreign investment.
