After paying tribute yesterday to the Cuban internationalists fallen in Angola, Domingos Vicente stressed the ties of brotherhood forged in the struggle, and vowed for preserving and strengthening ties and friendship between both peoples.

In that sense, he stated that the aim of his official visit to the island is to assess bilateral cooperation and identify ways to increase it.

As part of his official visit, the African vice president laid a wreath today at the Pantheon to the Cuban internationalists fallen in Angola.

He also toured that Mausoleum, located at the Havana's Colon cemetery, along with Brigadier General Delsa Esther Puebla, of the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution, among other members of that organization and officials of the government.

During his tour of the Pantheon, Domingos Vicente held a friendly exchange with two of the five Cubans who were imprisoned in the USA for fighting terrorism, Gerardo Hernandez and Fernando Gonzalez, who also has the merit for having complied with internationalist mission in Angola.

Domingos Vicente concludes today an official visit to Cuba, where he carried out an extensive program of activities.

The diplomatic relations between Angola and Cuba were established on November 15, 1975, so they are marking 40 years in 2015.

Both countries have maintained historical relations based on ties of friendship and brotherhood forged throughout many years of struggle.

Cuba and Angola are currently holding a successful cooperation, especially in areas of health, construction, education, science and technology, agriculture, military, sports, energy and mines.
