Organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Cuba, the meeting will have the attendance of the Secretary of State for Trade of Spain, Jaime García-Legaz Ponce, who heads the delegation of the Iberian nation expected to arrive today at the island.

According to the program announced by the Direction of International Relations of the hosting entity, the forum will be preceded by a meeting between Garcia-Legaz and the Interim President of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce Odalys Seijo Garcia, followed by the speeches and exchanges between the participating businesspeople.

According to the agenda, details and objectives of the Law 118 of Foreign Investment and Opportunities of Investment in Cuba an d the Special Development Zone of Mariel, located 45 kilometers west of Havana, which pretends to become the door to foreign trade and investment in the island.

The hosting part will also give details of the main investment projects and future perspectives of the Cuban tourism industry and the demands of the country in that sector, as well as in the manufacturing of construction materials, the possibilities to execute public works or the carrying out of maintenance of roads, asphaltic pavimentation and construction of non-residential buildings in general.

Other topics will be the investment projects in the obtention of different energy sources, the policy in general, the legal framework and the requirements of the Cuban part, in particular, in the sugar industry based on sugarcane biomass, forestry and biogas.

The Spanish delegation will also be formed by the Vicepresident of the Spanish Confederation of Enterpreneurial Organizations, Joaquin Gay de Montellá, Vicepresident and the International Director of the Chamber of Commerce of Spain, Modesto Piñeiro and Alfredo Bonet, respectively, as well as the director general of International Trade and Investments Antonio Fernández-Martos, among others.
