The winners of the National Awards to Technological Innovation and the Special Awards granted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment will be recognized during the ceremony.

The Academy of Sciences of Cuba recently approved 86 propositions for such stimuli, one of the highest figures since this selection process began in the Caribbean nation.

Of those awards, some 30 are to researches concerning to Biomedical Sciences, 23 to Natural and Exact Sciences, 14 of Social and Humanistic Sciences, 10 of Agrarian and Fishing Sciences, and nine for Technical Sciences.

The national policy of science, technology and technological innovation in Cuba has as a priority the production of animal food, the use of renewable energy source, fighting climate change, territorial order, computerization and automation, comprehensive development of the population, and water management.
