President Castro was grateful for the participation of the different Heads of State and Government, and the representatives of national and foreign public health organizations, for having unanimously agreed a declaration with working guidelines to combat the virus.

Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Dominica and Saint Lucia, members of ALBA-TCP, came here with complete delegations.

Haiti attended as a guest, and Grenada and Saint Kitts and Nevis have already asked for their admission as full members.

The admission of these nations will be effective starting from December, after an ordinary meeting to give the right recognition.

The ALBA-TCP Declaration has once more stated that this is a mechanism of integration, holding principles of solidarity, commitment and complementation with the most vulnerable peoples of the continent.

All the countries agreed to establish mechanisms to diagnose, isolate cases of infection, design, execute campaigns, contribute to the formation of specialized personnel in their countries and abroad, and create security groups.

The document signed in Havana includes the celebration of a meeting of experts and specialists to exchange knowledge and experiences, in order to devise an action plan at national level in alll member countries.
