HAVANA.- WYM Group, S.A. became the first Québec-based company to establish itself in the Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM), for the production and marketing of tissue paper and cleaning products.

A press release from the economic zone explains that this Cuban subsidiary of the Canadian company Group Wym is authorized to operate in Cuba for 25 years from its registration in the Mercantile Registry and will also produce napkins, disposable tissues, kitchen paper and liquid detergents for domestic and commercial use.

The plant, which will be located in Sector A, will be equipped with high-tech equipment and will be able to generate part of the electrical energy by means of solar panels on its roof and its productions will have high quality standards and will be destined for export and the domestic market.

In line with the development strategy for the Zone, the factory is expected to obtain part of its raw materials in Cuba, strengthening the productive chains with the rest of the Cuban economy.
