HAVANA.- Cuba and Spain signed two memorandums of understanding on Thursady at the Revolution Palace in Havana, in the presence of Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, President of the Councils of State and Ministers, and Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón, President of the Government of the Kingdom of Spain.

According to press reports, one of the agreements is to establish bilateral consultations within the constitutional framework of both nations, to broaden ties and lay the groundwork for the treatment of issues of interest.

The other aims to stimulate cooperation in the cultural field, and that there is a greater presence of the culture of Cuba in Spain and vice versa.

Minutes before, Sánchez Pérez-Castejón was received by the Cuban president in the main hall of the Palace.

The presidents listened to the national anthems of Cuba and Spain, after the military parade, they reviewed the troops and exchanged handshakes and hugs with the members of both delegations.

The European leader's agenda began with a tribute to the most universal of Cubans at the José Martí Memorial, where he placed a floral offering and observed minutes of silence.

Tomorrow's program includes a tour of Old Havana and the inauguration of a display of Spanish architecture.

With his arrival in Cuba, Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón fulfills the invitation made by Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, during his meeting at the United Nations last September, and it is the first time that a Spanish president has made an official visit to Cuba in the last three decades.

Spain is currently Cuba's third largest trading partner and the main one in Europe, and since 1902 both countries have maintained uninterrupted diplomatic relations, influenced by existing historical, cultural and commercial ties.
