HAVANA.- The 7th Plenary of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party, presided by its First Secretary, Army General Raul Castro Ruz, concluded on Tuesday in Havana after two days of intense work, with a profound analysis of the content of the draft proposal of the Constitution of the Republic.

The Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, Jose Ramon Machado Ventura pointed out that also present in the meeting were the members of the Council of State and the representatives of the Commission selected by the National Assembly of the People’s Power to draft a proposal.

The text that was presented to the plenary contained important modifications of the articles that make up the current Constitution, maintaining, as informed previously, the main percepts of our socialist system.

The project that would be approved by the deputies, after an analysis at the National Assembly of the People’s Power to meet next July 21st, will be submitted to consultation among the population and later to a referendum.

Ending the plenary, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party highlighted the political significance and importance of the process to the constitutional reform underway.
