HAVANA.- Miguel Diaz-Canel, President of the Council of State and Ministers of Cuba, received this Monday in the Palace of the Revolution, in this capital, Bolivian President Evo Morales Ayma, who is making an official visit to Cuba.

In statements to the national press, Morales took the opportunity to congratulate the new Cuban head of state and said he was happy to be with him in this era in which the island lives.

He stressed that he arrived in Cuba to build, together with the President of the Council of State and Ministers, a new agenda to continue the legacy of the leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz.

I am here to meet with the Cuban President and to schedule trade agreements, and in terms of integration," said Morales.

He assured that it will be an opportunity to resume the agenda of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - People's Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) and of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

He also thanked Cuba for its solidarity with the peoples of the world, with Fidel Castro and Army General Raúl Castro at the head of all these processes.

Moments before the meeting with Díaz-Canel, the South American president placed a floral offering in the monument to the National Hero José Martí, in the Revolution Square of the same name, and went up to the viewpoint of the Memorial, the highest point in Havana.

After the review of the troops formed for the occasion, Diaz-Canel and Evo exchanged handshakes and hugs with the respective delegations, a sign of the excellent state of bilateral relations and cooperation.

Evo Morales Ayma's visit is the second high level visitor that Díaz-Canel Bermúdez receives, after his election as President on April 19 by the 9th Legislature of Parliament.

The ties between the two nations were deepened by the leaders Evo Morales and Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, who began a history of collaboration that has led thousands of Cubans to provide medical care in the Andean nation.
