CAMAGÜEY.- Cuba record over one million cattle benefited in 2017 with the immunogen GAVAC against cattle tick, the highest in the 20 years of implementation of the product, as he met during a meeting of the analysis of the closure of the first national vaccination campaign.

Around 49 thousand doses produced by the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) of Camagüey, were distributed during the previous calendar in the country, by the Labiofam Business Group, thus increasing the extent of their use, and the scope of the Program of Integrated Control of the ectoparasite.

Tatiana Gonzalez, representative of the direction of strategic products and government programs in the agricultural sector of the IGBC, highlighted the Cuban News Agency the work of the promoters of this scientific center and the program coordinators of the Animal Health Directorate, among other bodies involved, for the procurement of such results.

In addition, recognized as potential further actions of training of technicians and specialists in veterinary medicine in 2017, and the promotions that were developed about the virtues of the immunogen through the media.

For its part, Christopher Arredondo, National Deputy Director of Animal Health, he mentioned the need to benefit more cattle of the non-state sector, which brings together the 72 % of the animals in Cuba, and ensure that its breeders participate in vaccination.

I think that we must strengthen the preparation of private producers, as one of the fundamental pillars for achieving this goal, since the previous year joined the program, a greater number of them in some territories.

For Karel Fragoso, a member of a Cooperative of Credits and Services in the province of Sancti Spiritus, the employment of GAVAC, in conjunction with other good animal husbandry practices, enabled it to reach the results that currently held in the collection of cow's milk, with a plan of more than 100 thousand liters.
