HAVANA, CUBA.-Cuban First Vice-President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermúdez received on Tuesday night Mr. Sabri Saidam, member of the Central Committee of the Fatah movement, and Minister of Education and Higher Education of the State of Palestine, who is in our country as Special Envoy.

Mr saidam is the bearer of a message from the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, addressed to the President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Raúl Castro Ruz.

During the fraternal meeting, the Cuban leader reiterated the unwavering support of Cuba for the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to constitute their State, with its borders in the limits prior to 1967, and with its capital in East Jerusalem.

He also ratified Cuba's rejection of the unilateral decision of the US government to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel.

Saidam, who also participates in the University 2018 congress held in this capital, thanked the historic support of Cuba for the cause of the Palestinian people and expressed the will to consolidate the relations of friendship and cooperation that unite both peoples.

The Ambassador of the State of Palestine, Mr. Akram Mohammad Rashid Samhan, accompanied the distinguished visitor.

On the Cuban side were present the Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, and the Director of North Africa and the Middle East of the Foreign Ministry, Héctor Igarza Cabrera.
