HAVANA.- (ACN) The residents of Havana paid tribute to Camilo Cienfuegos on Friday with a political activity at Revolution Square and a rally to Malecon Seaside Drive.

The activity was headed by the Vice President of the Council of State and First Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party in Havana, Mercedes Lopez Acea; Division General Roberto Legra Sotomayor and Jose Ramon Fernandez.Students from the Camilo Cienfuegos Military Schools, cadets of the Revolutionary Armed Forces and Interior Ministry and people in general tossed flowers to the sea in honor of the Hero of Yaguajay.

Young Karenny Heinrich Rodriguez affirmed that one of the clearest images of the people of Cuba and example of the purest ideals was lost with the disappearance of Camilo Cienfuegos.

Camilo is present among the Cuban people contributing to the construction of socialism, for the good of all and upon the blood shed by those that fought for a dignified Cuba with its traditions and history, he said.

Chabely Paule Prieto and Gisela Carrete Betancourt, students from the Hermanos Martinez Tamayo Vocational High School of the Interior Ministry recited a poem to the participants.The participants rallied to the Malecon Seaside Drive, tradition that is held every October 28th, in which the Cuban people toss flowers to the sea in honor of Camilo, known as Man of the Vanguard, who with only 27 years of age died barely months after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
