HAVANA (PL) The 11th edition of the International Nature Tourism Event (TURNAT 2017) will facilitate the creation of new recreational paths that create expectations among tour operators.

Organizers of the meeting (from September 26-30 in the eastern provinces of Holguin and Baracoa) revealed that the event already has the subscription of around 150 people from 8 nations.

Francisco Domínguez, trade director of the ECOTUR travel agency, highlighted that the list includes representatives from the United States, Germany, Mexico, China, France, Costa Rica, Belgium, Spain, and the host country.

He pointed out that the main wealth of this meeting (organized every two years in a different region of Cuba) lies on five routes, of which some will remain as usual tourism programs, such as that of Café del Oriente (Eastern coffee), and Colon.

Precisely, in that part of the island are located the places indicated by the historians where the Admiral Christopher Columbus took his first steps here on the island in the 15th century.

They also include tours of cacao areas, agricultural regions, mountains and possibilities not only for walks, but to get in touch with nature trips, adventures, and diving.

This meeting, very demanded in the most recent times by travelers from all over the world, seeks to promote the benefits of Cuban nature and tourism. ECOTUR, founded in 1996 by the Flora and Fauna group, belonged to the Ministry of Agricultural Industry of Cuba until 2011, and currently, operates through the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR).

ECOTUR aims at closing the year with revenues of $ 22 million when its main markets are Germany, France, Holland, United Kingdom, Belgium, Canada and the United States.

Only the first three aforementioned issuing markets will account for 66 percent of the firm's total revenues.

This company offers programs of rurality, nature, adventures, like mountain biking, among many. TURNAT will exhibit national parks, camping sites, and biosphere reserves, and will enhance adventure modalities.
