Havana.-  The Cuban President, Raul Castro Ruz, has highlighted the work conducted to recover from the huge damages caused by Hurricane Irma, and expressed his confidence that ''we will get back on our feet once again'', according to the morning press

Raul Castro called for continuing to work hard and to tackle the current problems with serenity and intelligence. He also ordered to keep Cuban people informed as much as possible on the situation Cuba is currently facing up.

Cuban president made these statements during the National Defense Council meeting -held last Wednesday- in which the huge damage caused by the powerful hurricane Irma were assessed and the actions to be carried out during the recovery stage were also pointed out, according to Granma journal.

We are utterly aware of Hurricane Irma has harshly hammered our country and caused huge damage nationwide, but fortunately we will once again come out well thanks to the hard work being done, President Raul Castro said.

According to Granma journal, Raul Castro acknowledged the teeming work made in each site harshly damaged by the devastating meteorological event, hammering nearly the whole country.

Cuba has been working very hard and what we can benefit from this difficult situation is to immediately get the experience to be much better prepared, the Cuban president stated.

He, in addition, warned that present cyclone season, which lasts up to November 30, has been described as intense. It is an obvious product developed by climate change and for this reason we must adapt.

In his capacity as President of the National Defense Council, Raul Castro called to take into consideration the best experiences put into practice before similar events, such as those in Santiago de Cuba and Guantanamo, hit by Hurricanes Sandy in 2012 and Matthew in 2016, respectively.
