CAMAGÜEY.- (ACN) Melia Hotels International chain, with 27 years of operations in Cuba, has already presence in this province, where it signed a contract for managing the Gran Hotel, Colón Hotel and Camagüey Hotel, three emblematic facilities of this city.

Operated so far by Islazul local firm, which maintains ownership of the properties, those properties will benefit from financing provided by the Spanish entity to remodel them and raise their standards.

The contract with Melia, which will be effective in January 2018, will bring great benefit to Camagüey as a future city destination, since it will increase the quality of its housing capacity, which ranges third-fourth in terms of demand in Cuba of this tourist modality.

The motivation of Melia to work in Camagüey is based on the invaluable historical and cultural heritage of the city, where the old, traditional and modern converge in the same scenario.

In addition to the rising in the standard that will mean the agreement with Melia, Camagüey also works on the expansion of its housing capacity, with more than 100 new rooms under construction or recovery, between the town and Santa Lucia beach.

In the case of the latter pole, a future project foresees the construction of more than 300 rooms by the end of this year or the beginning of the next.
