CAMAGUEY.- (ACN) A contest with works sent from all continents will start tonight, in this city, at the VII International Videoarte Festival of Camagüey (Fivac), unique forum of its kind in Cuba.

The event will gather 79 materials from 83 authors from 24 countries, and will meet until next Sunday with the central area in the Circuit of Exhibition, Development and Research of New Media (Cdinm), located in the old movie theater, and in the art gallery of the Provincial Center of Visual Arts.

Cuba is the territory with more audiovisuals accepted in the contest, which will also have materials from Venezuela, Brazil, United States of America, Spain, France, Germany, South Africa, Iran, Japan, India and Australia.

The wide geographic representativeness and heterogeneity of cultural contexts confers an evident singularity to the event, linked to the exhibition, out of competition, of audiovisuals from projects based in America and Europe.

According to the admission committee, the sample includes, in terms of communicational factors, explicit forms, predominance of symbols, and intermediate concepts.

The central jury will award prizes led by the grand prize, and various institutions will also award awards.

Tomorrow will begin the meeting of theoretical content, by specialists from the United States, Mexico, Spain and Argentina, who will discuss, among other issues, the convenience of founding a Latin American base in video art, a slope characterized by elements such as experimentation.

The Fivac will also include a creation workshop, with contents such as technological solutions to problems in the audiovisuals.
