CAMAGUEY.- (ACN) The commercialization of construction materials in this province behaves favorably, although the population's demand is still above the actual capacity planned for sale in stores.

According to data provided to ACN by Elaine Porro, specialist of the Business Group of Internal Commerce (GECi) in the territory, so far this year have entered through this concept more than 20 million 600 thousand pesos, but there remains the dissatisfaction with the lack of some products.

Cement is one of the most requested materials, but with about three thousand tons located in the 53 units destined to the commercialization of these inputs in Camagüey in the course of 2017, its availability so far has behaved to 81 percent of Projected, Elaine said.

Enrique Franco, a regular customer of the points in this city, commented that the insufficiency of the dust generates tensions in the sale of materials, as it not only affects its own commercialization, but also that of other elements, as the binder in the construction.

Problems with transportation and shortage of raw materials are some of the reasons for the insufficiency alleged by the sole supplier, the Cement Factory 26 de Julio in the municipality of Nuevitas, explained the GECi official, although the figures can be recovered in the during the year.

This was the case in 2016, when more than 24,500 tons of cement was sold, to 104 percent of what was planned, mainly of bulk powder.

Other inputs such as blocks, hydraulic and sanitary modules, and aluminum carpentry, are also among the most requested, and even when suppliers deliver them smoothly, they also fail to meet expectations about them.

The pressure of demand over the supply also provokes the presence of resellers who monopolize the products and make it more expensive.

In 2011, the sale of constructive materials began to promote self-built housing and grant subsidies to people with low incomes, but it still needs to refine its supply and control mechanisms to better satisfy its users.
