From next October 20th, Day of the National Culture, this exhibit of the most ancient 15 quadrants of the once Town of Santa Maria del Puerto del Príncipe, will be at the disposal of locals and visitors in the Collado building, in front of the emblematic park Ignacio Agramonte, ancient Square of Arms.

Here it will have an installation equipped with a novel system of audio and video in three languages, Spanish, English and French, through which transcendental moments of the metropolis will be represented didactically.

José Rodríguez Barreras, director of the Office of the Historian of the City of Camagüey, mentioned to the web page of Radio Cadena Agramonte that this space has among its targets to sensitize the persons with regard to the hereditary wealths of the town, which most ancient area was declared Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2008.

The official added that in the search of safeguarding the identity of the inhabitants, also will be developed in the building head office of the Municipal Assembly of the Peoples' Power, in the bordering Cisneros street, activities of historical cut to facilitate the knowledge of the local traditions.

Among the facts to be represented in the new center with the technological help are the delivery of the shield of the city by the Spanish metropolis in the XVIIIth century, the entry of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro to Camagüey in January, 1959, the visit of the president of Panama Omar Torrijos in 1976, among other events.
