The fumigation in the houses and in public spaces in cycles of six days, the education for the health and sanitary hearings in communities, work centers and schools, and the environmental sanitation, shape the strategy to reduce it this September.

As pointed out in a meeting with the press Fernando González Isla, director of Public Health in the province, this is one of the most compromised in Cuba for the presence of the mosquito.

Every year, the summer and high temperatures suppose the increase at levels much over the permissible of the presence of this insect, which is 0.05 foci detected by every 100 inspected houses, and in this month it is for the 0.65 in the whole province, and in 0.92 in the municipality of Camagüey.

With it, there increases the risk of the contagiousness of the dengue fever, illness which is transmitted by the female of the Aedes aegypti, who reproduces fundamentally in repositories of clean water, motive by which a major alertness of the citizens is demanded.

Dr. González added that the biggest foci quantity is detected precisely in uncovered tanks or badly covered in the residential sector, among 40 000 and 50 000 according to the inquiry realized by workers of the antivectorial campaign.

The need to coordinate the actions between the public health and other social sectors, to achieve a real and sustainable community participation, is a fundamental demand in the control of this vector realized by the Pan-American Organization of the Health, since its risks are palpable in the whole area of the Americas.
