The national program for the day for the World Day of the Protection of the Ozone Layer, which central event will be next September 16th, kicked off in this province with a press conference in the Center of Conventions Santa Cecilia of the city of Camagüey, organized by the Unit of the Environment of the Ministry of the Science, Technology and Environment.

The International Day of the Protection of the Ozone Layer is an opportunity to promote the conscience of the problems and it offers the opportunity of centering the attention and the action at the world, regional and national levels as regards the protection of the ozone layer.

In this effort Camagüey is one of the territories with more effective work in Cuba, announcing its principal event on Saturday, the 12th in Santa Lucía beach, with the recognition to the outstanding entities, among which there is the Company of Fuel, CUPET, and the UEB Marine Terminal of Nuevitas.

Also there will be set up the Classroom of Good Practices of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning in the Polytechnical School Manuel Cañete Ramos, in order to train technical staff and specialists in the use of modern processes for the devices of refrigeration.

Meets of special interests clubs, sports events and exchange with students are part of this calendar. At present it is expected that the ozone layer should recover and in the year 2050 it should reach the levels previous to 1980 thanks to the application with satisfactory outcomes of the Montreal Protocol relative to the substances that exhaust the ozone layer signed by Cuba.

Both the developing countries and the developed ones must eliminate gradually the substances destroyer of the ozone.

High ultraviolet radiation doses affect the human health, reduce the rhythm of growth of the plants, alter the ecosystems balance, accelerate the degradation of the plastic and illness risks increase, on having suppressed the efficacy of the system of immunity of the body.
