Over 820 000 pesos were invested in the cardinal repair of this center committed to form the personnel that needs the agriculture in the territory and in the one that today are highlighted, fruit of the constructive works, the student residence and the specialized classrooms.

Among other innovations of the institution, there are the specialties of library science and language of signs to the already traditional ones, forest, gardening and agronomy, for an enrollment of 318 students who will combine study and work with their participation in tasks like the sugar harvest.

The current polytechnical was founded in 1916 like Agricultural-Farm-School Gaspar Betancourt Cisneros and turned into Institute of the Cane after the victory of the Revolution. Recently it donated part of its areas to the Botanical Garden to be opened, and in which the students will develop skills and will give its first contributions to the territory.
