With one of the biggest plans in Cuba for the spring campaign, just like Villa Clara, Camagüey  made a lot of progress in June, reaching 2860 hectares, but the frequent rains prevent higher outcomes.

Of the eight business units devoted to the sugar cane cultivation, just Siboney and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes exceeded their plans, according to the local sugar undertaking.

However, Panamá, Argentina, Batalla de Las Guásimas and Ignacio Agramonte plants, this last one with a high deficit of raw material that have impeded the milling during some harvest, have a huge delay.

Eddy Chávez García, agricultural director of Batalla de Las Guásimas, said that the lengthening of the last harvest dificulted the development of this labor because of the lack of human resources in May and June.

Also, he highlighted some problems with the preparation of the ground due to the high humidity of the fields; however, the conditions are now favorable to intensify the seeding because of the presence of enough forrows and humidity for the germination.

During this year, this province is intended to plant more than 25 000 hectares, whose fulfillment will require a high and organized effort in the conditioning of the land with machinery and at the time of watering the seed in the furrows.
