This rescue plan was applied on the spilled of wastes water, mitigation of erosion and sedimentation, atmospheric emission, waste processing organization, and measurements of strengthening in the institutional controls.

Jorgelina Moré Fundora, specialist of the CITMA in the municipality of Nuevitas, mentioned that at present the bay is catalogued by the specialists of Environmental engineering of Bays and Coasts as healthy, from the quality registered in its waters.

Although, added Moré, there are still details to be solved, like the work that must be applied by the company of Hydraulic Resources of this territory in the end of the cove of Mayanabo, close to the community of San Jacinto, where waters sewers are spilled to the sea.

Every three years the Group Bay realizes coastal monitorings and since 1997, according to a project of the Ministry of Transport, studies are applied on the quantity of hydrocarbons dissolved, produced by the port and the fishing activity, index that in Nuevitas brings moderate concentrations.

Considered one of the most important of Cuba due to its geographical position and economic movement, this bay suffered from a limited strategy of sustainable protection, which involved ecological damages because of the industrial development of the nearby city and the fishing development.
