Bárbaro Casas López, director of the Maraguán cattle company, which undertake the invesment, informed that although the mayority of its production will be assigned to the tourism industry, part of this production will be for the consumption of the population.

Since 2013 some cattle units are been repaired with works that include the construction of plants and water supply, elliminating of invasive plants, the attention for the regrowth of the grass and mainly the fencing for grazing.

Now, the beef herd is growing and there are also conditions for the animal husbandry, said Casas, who mentioned that they are also developing the genetic improvement.

The main breed to work with in this field is the Cebú, which is indistinctly crossed with Brangus, Charolaise and Santa Gertrudis, with the intention of creating a stronger animal, able to adapt to the climate, the field and that offer enough meet.

Although new programs where added to this project later on with the objective of equip it with greater assurance, this project was started at a cost of 66 millon pesos with one part in dollars to purchase technological and agricultural devices.
