The Department, which kicked off its work in 2002, delivered now 74 postgraduates' diplomas, 22 of the Basic School Year and 52 of that of continuity. They also stimulated the three best students of this school period: Nidia Labrada Machado, Dalicia  Madera Núñez y Ketty González Toledo.

In the activity also received recognitions a group of teachers and collaborators of the UC and the Medical School “Carlos J. Finlay“; as well as of the Provincial Direction of Public Health, the Cuban Teachers' Association and the Central Organization of Cuban Trade Unions, all with outstanding participation in the functioning of this school year.

The central words of the gala were in charge of M.Sc Altinái Martínez Carreras, president of the Department and Director of University Extension in the Camagüeyan center.

One of graduated ladies of the School Year of Continuity, Iris Valentina González, mentioned that “to wrap up satisfactorily this wise preparation, does not mean for us to obtain a BA degree or something like that, but it represents the benefit of having a better quality of life, in aspects like the feeding, communication, comprehensive education, general education,  way of dressing and behavior in the society and especially in the family”,

Élcida Roque López, who is in charge of the project for the Central Organization of Cuban Trade Unions, valued that “this school process has been superior to the rest, so although we need many more link of other sectors, among them the Institute of Sports (Inder) and Culture, there existed major integration of all the factors that propitiate the development of a task, which must be increased for the level of aging that the Cuban population possesses”.

Camagüey was the fourth province of the country in opening a center of this type, since it kicked off in February, 2000, in favor of providing a worth old age, a suitable familiar and community reintegration and realize their life projects.
