Mayra González, head of the Unit of Environment of the delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment in Camagüey, explained how the adaptation and the mitigation of the climate change turn out to be vital, but even more the prevention of this phenomenon.

The environmental degradation, the transformation of the territories and the flaws in productive and services processes make the ecosystems vulnerable and unleash disasters, that only between 2000 and 2012 caused the death of over a million persons in the world, the specialist warned.

Although there is still a lot to do, in Cuba exists a politics that privileges the conservation and the rational use of natural resources, as well as the employment of the science and the technological innovation for the sustainable development by means of the integrated management, González extoled.

Sponsored by the Camagüey University Ignacio Agramonte University, CYTDES 2015 is provided with the participation of Cuban researchers and others from 10 countries of Latin America, Europe and Africa, and will take place in several symposiums with diverse topics, like genre, agroecology, risk management, biotechnology and others, all related to the sustainable development.

The event, that will close tomorrow, is celebrated every two years in the territory.
