The house of high studies experienced an increase of the broadband of the Provincial Node Reduc up to 20 Megabytes per second (Mbps), and of 10 in the Internet in the independent channel, fact that demonstrates the gradual computerization of the teaching unit.

Reynaldo Alonso, head of the Direction of Computerization of the center, said to the digital place of the University of Camagüey that the remote access of the teachers from their houses raised 1 Mbps, and the connection from the Cuban Telecomunications Company, to the Node of the Ministry of Higher Education, is at present of 8 Mbps.

Although today, Alonso added, already are evident the benefits, not all the users still enjoy these in equal magnitude, because someone computers need improvements in the components of its hardware, fundamentally the Random Access Memory (RAM), which, on having been a small, diminishes the speed.

On this matter Julio Madera, dean of the faculty of Computer Sciences, recounted the same way to this place that the internal network of the institution is spoiled and there are many of the so-called "waterfalls", which obstruct the tie from the Node up to some places of the institution.

Madera pointed out that in order to eliminate these obstacles it is foreseen to connect the buildings of the central head office, that of pedagogic specialties José Martí and that of physical culture, with the Node through optical fibre cables.

According to the university web, until now four antennas Wi-Fi have been placed in the center and Cuba's telephony company Etecsa will install a Nauta point in the surroundings of the shallows of the student dining room, space of high inflow of the pupils.

The University of Camagüey, first created by the Cuban Revolution, is provided today with over 6 500 students, and constitutes a fundamental axis for the development of the region.
