So, right now, the over 100 workers of the Center are immersed in the golden 25. When you converse with them you can feel the freshness of the young people. Not for the persons' quantity between 20 and 30 years, but because intelligence gives there the whole verdure, the whole impetus of the youth, which finally is the attitude of big entrepreneurs of the history.

BELOW THE 30s

With less than 30 years, in the CIGB are just 22 persons, who represent 17 % of the whole of workpeople. “The things are facilitated to the young people, because the tutors support us very much. When I was a student I practice in other places, and they never treated me better than here, that's why I did not hesitate to link with the Center from the University. When I graduate they placed me directly in the production, and I had to direct; although I do not like it, I have had to assume several charges, in which also I have learned”, said Arlenis Alfaro Martínez, production head with only 28 years.

Leosbel Pedroso Reyes is another one caught by the professionalism of the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology. He graduated of technician of average level in industrial electricity. He worked a few months before going to the Active Military Service; reached this period wanted to return to the Center. The only viable solution, since he had lost his position, was to have a worker's permit for proper account and to be hired. “Here I had my best practices. I liked the work and, also, how there are so many devices, you can acquire a lot of knowledge”.

Josué García Parrado graduated in 2013 of electrical engineering, but the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology put him as challenge a work of automated control panel. His degree thesis was based on the automation of the dryer, device that turns solid to the bionematicide HerberNem. This ecological, effective product in the parasites control in the plantations, guarantees exports to Camagüey; therefore, there is almost obvious the interest of the scientists in Josué, and logic the decision to kick off his labor life in this place.

“The center is a school, not only for what it contributes to the specialty, but because the demand leads you always to give the maximum. I am still in training, but I have learned a little of everything”, he said.

25 AND MORE

The chemical engineer Carlos Pérez Heredia is 29 years old, of them 11 dedicated to the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology. And as test of his election he told me that in the last five years only two young people has left the place. “The young people here we have a very big commitment with the work. We earn over the average (1 300 pesos was the average for worker in 2014), but we do not prioritize that, because there is the one who with less efforts earns more than us. The love to the profession, growing in confidence like scientist: this is the priority”, he mentioned, and he was grateful for the help offered by the group, especially that to his teacher Nemecio González Fernández, principal specialist of the group of Development.

“But do not be shy and says you are already a Master, and who teaches is him”, said smiling Nemecio, who, before the gratitude of Carlos and Yunier Paneque Díaz, another chemical engineer,  who was absorbed in the last stage of the HerberNem, added: "When the young people has interest of learning it is great to work with them, because they give this energy that boosts us to face with fortitude any challenge”.

In the unit of cultivation of cells of mammal, for seven months has been working Laura Gómez Porto, 23-year-old chemical engineer. “I feel happy of having so little time of graduate and to take part in the securing of the protein that acts against the virus that provokes the Classic Porcine Pest (porcine cholera). The applied tests have been successful, and in the next years we must enter the phase of clinical trial. I feel good, and not only for the professional success, also for the good relations with my partners”.

The Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology is luxuriant. At the age of 25 it shows an effective mix of experience and youth. From the wit of these Camagüeyans have gone out creations as the vaccine against ticks of the bovine cattle (Gavac), exported to several countries of our continent.

But they do not stop to create. They prepare for 2016 a clinical trial to show a vaccine against the prostate cancer; they advance in the researches for the vaccines against the porcine cholera and the hemorrhagic illness of the rabbit. Undoubtedly the CIGB goes through its best epoch.
