Central America and USA to Discuss Alliance for Prosperity Plan

The representation of the island is integrated by actors, young people, cooperative, intellectuals, businessmen and academicians, who will take part in the so-called Summit of the Peoples, which includes the trade unions, the social movements, managerial and juvenile forums and others and will be present at the event of solidarity with progressive causes of Latin America and the Caribbean.

The target of this delegation of the civil society is to exchange in an open way with other representations of the hemisphere, to recommend actions on the base of the respect and the integrity of the peoples, as well as to move the experiences of Cuba in topics like the democratic governance, civil participation, education, health, energy, sustainable development, innovation and development of the information technologies and the communications, among others.

As people know, the Summit of the Americas is an instrument created by the United States, immediately after the destruction of the socialistic field, to boost the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) and to close with this mechanism, like the only hegemonic potency, the tongs that it would put to the feet, economically and politically, of Latin America.

Celebrated in 1994 in Miami, Cuba was not invited to this event, which already in 1962 by the pressures the United States, we were expelled from the Organization of the American States (OEA), although the above mentioned meeting was constituting an independent mechanism from this entity.

In apparent calmness the Summit of Santiago de Chile took place in 1998, and that of Canada, three years later, sealed by an obedient rhetoric, but already in the Fourth one that took place in La Plata, Argentina, Hugo Chávez was in the presidency in Venezuela and Néstor Kirchner in the homeland of Che Guevara.

And there the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) suffered such breakdowns for the strong integration and antineoliberal winds that kicked off to flog the Latin America and the Caribbean, which inexorably went away apeak and remained buried, and never again it was mentioned.

According to the Panamanian Chancellery till now over a score of chiefs have confirmed their assistance, among them those of Cuba, Venezuela, the United States and others up to reaching the mentioned number that is expected to continue increasing up to coming closer to the 35 that should take part.
