CAMAGÜEY:-The exchange of Franco-Spanish journalist Ignacio Ramonet with colleagues from the territory will be one of the activities that will give prestige to the Conference of the Cuban Press in the province, from next March 4th to the 15th. Also president of Le Monde Diplomatique will present his book The Empire of Vigilance.

The central act in which several professionals of the guild will be recognized, will take place on March 14 in the José Martí Park of this city.

In the gala for the date members with more than 15 years in the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC) will receive the distinction Félix Elmuza and will give the provincial prize to the Work of Life Rolando Ramírez.

Yuldis Márquez Díaz, president of the Upec in Camagüey, stated that the activities will be dedicated to the 60 anniversary of the newspaper Adelante and the 50 years of founding of Radio Guáimaro and Radio Florida.

Among the actions envisaged during this day are photographic exhibitions, conversations on gender and communication-directed by journalists who have participated in courses taught by the International Institute of Journalism José Martí-, activities related to the Book Fair and lectures with students of high school and pre-university school in municipalities where there is a need for graduated journalists.

They will also perform the award ceremony of the Carlos Bastidas Contest, which recognizes the annual work of journalists in the different manifestations of this profession.

The journalism students will also be part of the activities of the celebration and will have in their hands the important task of elaborating the special edition of the Adelante newspaper, corresponding to that week.

The opportunity for professional reflection will emphasize the challenges of journalism in the digital environment and its decisive contribution to the new press model demanded by the 10th Congress of the Organization, and will pay special tribute to the professional practice carried out in these six decades of Revolution.

The celebration at the national level will have as main incentive to stimulate the construction of a new model of socialist press and will be dedicated to the 60 anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution, to the 165 years of the birth of the famous patriot and Cuban journalist Juan Gualberto Gómez and at 127 years of the first issue of the Patria Newspaper, founded by the National Apostle, José Martí.
