CAMAGÜEY.- A wide constructive and beautification movement is appreciated in this city, in the heat of the preparations to celebrate the 505th anniversary of the once Villa de Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe, on February 2nd.

Among the properties included in this program are several schools located in the oldest segment of the city, or declared heritage centers by its architecture or historical values.

 Officials of the Provincial Directorate of Education and the Department of Investments reported that the Pre-University Institute Álvaro Morell Álvarez, the elementary school Pepito Mendoza, the primary school Josué País, and the special schools Nguyen Van Troi and Heroes of the Moncada, they benefit from the repair of their carpentry and the painting of interior premises.

 It also occurs in others, where at the same time more specific tasks are attended, such as the maintenance of the electrical, hydraulic and sanitary systems, carried out by brigades of the construction company number 2, workers of the non-State sector, and of the Provincial Restoration and Conservation Company.

 Since December last year, personnel of this last entity, belonging to the Office of the Historian of the City of Camagüey, undertake the integral repair of the carpentry in the urban Pre-University Institute Álvaro Morell Álvarez, National Monument.

Mirna Téllez Pargas, director of the educational institution, explained to Radio Cadena Agramonte that the aforementioned workers dismantled all the carpentry, and today more than 70% is rehabilitated.

 In addition, the director clarified the availability of the necessary materials to complete the work, which includes maintenance actions in the water and sanitary networks, and to wait with a renewed image of the 505th birthday of the city of Camagüey.
