CAMAGÜEY.- To question and transform the beliefs that support violence against women calls the Cuban campaign Evoluciona, led by the center Oscar Arnulfo Romero (OAR) in alliance with the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), the National Center of Sex Education (Cenesex) and the Center for Youth Studies (CESJ).

The initiative aims to influence young people to question, act and transform beliefs related to the control of the body and the social relations of women. According to a press conference today, Gabriel Coderch, director of OAR, Evoluciona will act throughout the country and have several scenarios in Granma, home of the national Day against violence against women and girls, from December 5 to 8.

As part of the call, a sympathetic man carries messages that invite to leave behind patriarchy and to re-signify the female body Nourished by the experiences of Eres Más — the last campaign against violence that also led OAR — of studies and statistics of Cuba, and of young visions taking into account that they compose the public to which it focuses, the Cuban campaign is connected with BASTA! Let us end violence against women, which is implemented, with the adequacy of contexts and goals, in eight Latin American countries. As BASTA!…, Evoluciona aims to transform social norms that support and naturalize violence in its various manifestations.

Important voices of music, literature and journalism have already been added to this endeavor in the country, which through social networks and other spaces also say evolves, in the name of non-sexist violence.

Among the upcoming campaign invitations highlights a concert this November 29, at 3:00 p.m. in the capital of Cuba Pavilion, with David Blanco, Toques del río, Luis Franco, among others. The quotation also includes other cultural proposals.
