HAVANA.- The challenges of computerization will be the central theme of the first national conference of the Cuban Union of Informaticians (UIC), which begins today at the Havana Conventions Center.

The delegates will discuss topics such as knowledge management, training, innovations, communications and attention to membership, as well as the activities and projects developed by the association in the short time since its creation.

María Esther Alfonso Suárez, First Vice-President of the organization, recently pointed out that the fundamental objective of the meeting is to take stock of the work of the UIC since the time it was created, as well as to analyze its achievements and propose new challenges.

According to the organizers, the event takes place after discussions in the country's 262 grassroots delegations, which also held trade fairs.

After two years of existence, the Union of Informaticians of Cuba constitutes a way of representation for the specialists of this guild, at the same time that it joins its efforts in tasks related to the computerization of the Island.

One of the main achievements of the UIC was the First International Cybersociety Congress 2017, a space where the strengthening of the computerization of Cuban society was debated, aligned with the development indicators and projects that, led by the Ministry of Communications, are prioritized in the country.
