CAMAGÜEY.- For their hard work and commitment in the formation of their family has been recognized the marriage of Marta Julia Belisario and Jorge Enrique Jerez at the opening of the fifth edition of the Celebrations of Maternity and Paternity, Equal in Rights and Responsibilities, for which the diploma "Greater Love" was awarded to them.

The event began this Wednesday in Havana, in order to address these issues in the attention to the full development of children and adolescents, according to a dispatch from the ACN.

Such an initiative, which is being developed since 2014, this year will devote their activities to the 30 anniversary of the National Center for Sex Education (CENESEX), an institution which directs the event since its inception.

Mariela Castro Espín, its director, commented that they intend to "contribute to the awareness of the Cuban population around a critical reading of the traditional models of men and women, and the naturalized unhealthy parenting patterns".

She stressed the importance of Maternity and Paternity celebrations… as spaces of reflection led to socialize good practices, and to raise awareness of what it means to society that all fathers and mothers learn to exercise their rights and responsibilities in the education of their children.

Research carried out in Cuba show that the fundamental role awarded to parents is the economic support of the family, and mothers are responsible for the care of the offspring, a model that hinders the development of the autonomy of the children.

It was also submitted by the Cenesex, in collaboration with the School of Creative Photography of Havana, the first edition of the competition on maternity and paternity "To grow with love", addressed to professionals and amateurs of photography, which will close the next May 15.
